More Iranian inmates will to be pardoned: Intelligence minister
Iran Intelligence Minister Seyyed Mahmoud Alavi has expressed hope that more Iranian prisoners will be released on the occasion of Eid al-Ghadeer.
Alavi said on Wednesday that a number of inmates might be set free on October 23, coinciding with the Muslim feast of Eid al-Ghadeer.
The Islamic Establishment does not like anyone to be in prison, just as it likes all people to live and behave according to norms, Alavi added.
When asked whether the release of prisoners would continue, the Iranian intelligence minister said this was not the first time that inmates were granted clemency in the country.

Prosecutor General and Judiciary Spokesman Gholam Hossein Mohseni Ejei said on Monday, September 23, that Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei had pardoned 80 prisoners.

Ejei added that a number of the inmates included those arrested over riots which followed Iran's presidential election in 2009.
