TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangirilaid emphasis on the negative impacts of extremist thoughts for the entire Muslim world, and called for Muslims' vigilance against such deviations.
Addressing the heads of Islamic countries chambers of commerce held on the sidelines of the 14th International Trade Fair of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Tehran on Monday, Jahangiri underlined that the extremist groups should not be allowed to take advantage of differences of opinion to fuel the flames of discord between Muslims.
He voiced Irans readiness to help resolve problems facing the Islamic Ummah, specially in the sensitive and strategic region of the Middle-East.
Late in September, Member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Abbasali Mansouri voiced concern about the growing trend of extremism in the region, and called on the regional nations to be aware of the enemies' divisive plots aimed at creating rift among Muslims.
World countries have reached the conclusion that extremism takes them to nowhere, he underscored.
Rationality and wisdom are the best means to restore peace and security in the international community, he underlined.
He said that extremism would be eradicated through raising the awareness of people to the national interest.
Earlier this year, former Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi also issued a stern warning against the spread of a new wave of Islamophobia by the West and through its support for extremist and Takfiri groups, including the al-Qaeda, in Muslim countries.
The West has created several radical groups under different names such as Takfiri, al-Qaeda, in Muslim countries to portray Islam as a radical religion to the international community and propagate Islamophobia, Salehi said, addressing a press conference in Tehran in August.
Salehi underlined that the arrogant powers are trying hard to spread Islamophobia throughout the world.
