A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman says Beijing welcomes the latest round of negotiations between Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and hopes for further dialog between the two sides.
"We encourage the agency and Iran to further step up dialog and cooperation," Hua Chunying told reporters on Tuesday.
Iran and the UN nuclear agency held two days of talks at two different levels in the Austrian capital, Vienna, on October 28-29.
On Monday, Irans Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi presented the Islamic Republics new approach to its nuclear energy program in a meeting with IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano.
The Chinese spokesperson expressed hope that both Iran and the IAEA would play constructive roles in pushing ahead with negotiations with the purpose of finding a peaceful solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.
"At present, all sides concerned should grasp the opportunities for dialog, and seek common ground while resolving disputes in pursuit of new progress at an early date to create favorable conditions for resolving the Iranian nuclear issue in a comprehensive, long-term and appropriate way," Hua added.
In a joint statement at the end of their talks on Tuesday, Iran and the IAEA described their two-day negotiations in Vienna as very productive.
Iran Ambassador to the IAEA Reza Najafi and the Agencys Deputy Director General Tero Tapio Varjoranta said they would once again meet in the Iranian capital, Tehran, on November 11.
On Monday, Najafi described Irans proposed approach as operational and said Tehrans offer to the IAEA is not related to its proposal to the five permanent members of the UN Security Council - Russia, China, France, Britain and the US -- plus Germany.
Iran and the group of six major world powers held two days of negotiations over the Islamic Republics nuclear energy program in Geneva on October 15-16. The two sides will meet again in the Swiss city on November 7-8.
