Four people have been killed in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, where violence remains rampant despite government efforts to enforce law and order.
Two people were killed and five others wounded late on Monday when armed men opened fire on a protest camp outside a hotel, security sources said on Tuesday.

The tent was set up by tribesmen demanding the authorities to speed up an investigation into the killing of General Abdel Fatah Yunis al-Obeidi.

Obeidi was the military commander of former rebels who toppled longtime dictator, Muammar Gaddafi, in 2011 and was killed after being recalled from the frontline in July the same year.

Security officers also found the body of Abdel Latif Zwai, the director of a bank in Benghazi, while bearing gunshot wounds at a farm on the suburbs of Benghazi.

Zwai was reportedly seized last month when the kidnappers attacked the bank, initially demanding a ransom of USD 8 million.

On Tuesday, gunmen shot dead a civilian working for the head of a brigade of ex-rebels.

Libya remains in a state of lawlessness with former rebels charged with restoring security after the 2011 revolution refusing to lay down arms or joining the national security forces.
