Saudi diplomat has left Iran, not expelled, says Iranian official

TEHRAN (ISNA)- An Iranian informed Foreign Ministry official rejected reports on expulsion of a Saudi diplomat from Iran and said that the diplomat has left Iran on his own will.
The remarks came after some media said that the diplomat who killed an Iranian national in a car accident was forced to leave Iran.

"Reports on expulsion of the Saudi diplomat is false. He left Iran on September 27. Saudi embassy in Tehran sent a note to Iranian Foreign Ministry two days later and said that the mission of this diplomat is over. The embassy sent back his documents to Iranian Foreign Ministry," the Iranian source said.

The reports on his expulsion is 'unfounded', the Iranian source said.

The official said that blood money has been determined to be paid, and the family of the national Iranian has accepted to receive the blood money and the case is close legally and judicially.
