A number of Iranian lawmakers have criticized remarks by Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad about the possibility of improving ties with the US in case Washington takes confidence-building steps.

Ahmadinejad said on Tuesday that the current state of affairs between Iran and the US is not in the interest of both countries and the entire world, adding that Tehran is ready to help accelerate improvement of bilateral ties if Washington takes steps towards achieving understanding.

Meanwhile, Christian Science Monitor reported on Wednesday that Ahmadinejad has declared Iran's readiness to make concessions on its nuclear program.

This is while US President Barack Obama said during his speech at the UN General Assembly that �America wants to resolve this issue through diplomacy and we believe that there is still time and space to do so. But that time is not unlimited.� Obama warned that "the United States will do what we must to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon."

Ahmadinejad�s remarks drew criticism of 26 Iranian lawmakers which they believed was against Leader of the Islamic Revolution�s foreign policy.

Since the Victory of the Islamic Revolution�in Iran in 1979, the Iranian leaders have stressed the importance of opposing the US imperialist policies and its interference in domestic affairs of other countries as the most important achievement of the Islamic Revolution.
