Tehran, Dec 14 , IRNA A senior security official said here Saturday that Iran?s Interior Ministry is following up the terrorist attack that killed several Iranian citizens in the city of Khanaqin in Iraqs Diyala province.
Iran?s Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Ali Abdollahi said Tehran has consulted with Baghdad on the issue.
IRNA reported Friday evening that gunmen shot dead 18 people near the village of Balad Ruz, situated 90 kilometers (55 miles) northeast of Baghdad.
Fifteen Iranians and three Iraqis were killed while five Iranians and three Iraqis were also wounded in the attack.
The victims were working on a pipeline project to carry natural gas from Iran to its western neighbor, when they came under the attack.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the assault.
