‘Hush! Girls Don’t Scream’ to compete at Chennai film festival

Iranian social drama Hush! Girls Don’t Scream is slated to be screened at the 11th edition of Chennai International Film Festival in India.
Directed by the eminent Iranian woman filmmaker Pouran Derakhshandeh, the film will compete at the particular section dedicated to Iranian cinema titled ‘Focus on Iranian Cinema.’

‘Focus on Iranian Cinema’ is one of the categories of the World’s Cinema section of the festival.

The film tells the story of abused children and ignorant families who do not make enough time in their day to listen and solve their children's issue.

Sponsored by Iran’s Farabi Cinematic Foundation, the film won Best Film Award at the 2012 Fajr International Film Festival.

Derakhshandeh’s latest drama received a great attention from the movie goers in Canada and the United States.

The film has recently garnered the Best Feature length Award of the fourth edition of London Iranian film festival.

The leading Iranian director Derakhshandeh’s drama was also hailed at the 44th Goa international Film Festival in India.

Oscar Academy has recently requested a copy of screen script of the movie during a letter signed by the center’s Script Librarian Gregory Walsh.

The Green Umbrella by Nasser Refaei, Berlin -7 by Ramtin Lavafipour and Sunlight, Moonlight, Earth by Ali Qavitan,The Restitution by Ali Ghaffari, Trapped by Parviz Shahbazi and Parviz by Majid Barzegar are other Iranian films that will represent the country’s cinema at the Indian festival.

The 11th edition of Chennai International Film Festival that kicked off on December 12 will run until December 19, 2013.
