TEHRAN (FNA)- A delegation from the European Parliament (EP) and a group of the Iranian female parliamentarians held a meeting on the latest regional and international issues, and discussed new avenues to expand bilateral relations between the two sides.
Speaking at the meeting in Tehran on Sunday, Head of the EP Delegation for Relations with Iran Tarja Cronberg underlined the fact that women in the Iranian parliament form their own fraction, have their own group, discuss things, and do research is an evolvement in the society.
The Sunday meeting was the first one in over five years.
Nine of the 290 members of the Iranian parliament are women.
The European Parliament (EP) delegation arrived in Tehran Friday morning to confer with senior Iranian officials on ways to deepen bilateral ties in various arenas.
In a meeting with Irans Deputy Anti-Narcotics Police Chief Colonel Morteza Mirzayee in Tehran on Sunday, Cronberg underlined the EPs firm intention to expand relations with Tehran, and said the EU legislators are devising a strategy for increasing cooperation with Iran.
"The main agenda of our trip to Iran is the expansion of cooperation with the Iranian parliament and the European parliament is devising a strategy for cooperation with Iran after the Geneva agreement (between Tehran and the world powers), Cronberg underlined.
