Tehran, Dec 19, IRNA Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday that expansion of relations with neighboring states is among top priorities of the eleventh government in Iran.
Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Islamabad on Thursday.

Zarif is in Islamabad to attended the 16th Session of Developing Eight (D-8) Council of Ministers.

In his meeting with the Pakistani premier, Zarif conveyed the greetings of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to him and invited Nawaz Sharif to pay an official visit to Iran.

He also thanked Pakistan for hosting the D 8 council of ministers session in Islamabad.

Iran attaches importance to expansion of relations and cooperation with Pakistan in various economic, political and cultural fields, Zarif said.

Zarif also called for close cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad in fighting terrorism and extremism and in taking timely action for implementation of joint economic projects such as IP gas pipeline.

The Pakistani premier, for his part, conveyed his greetings to President Rouhani and expressed hope to visit Tehran at an appropriate time.

The Pakistani prime minister welcomed talks between Iran and G5+1 and described it as a significant turning point.

The two sides also reviewed expansion of mutual cooperation along with regional developments.
