Iran to consider new partners for auto-industry

TEHRAN (ISNA)- President of Iran's IKCOHashem Yekeh Zareh warned French automaker companies that the country would consider other partners for joint car industry projects except Peugeot and Renault.
"Existence of none of foreign partners will not cause that we do not consider other partners. What is a priority for us is that we need a reliable partner, a partner that cooperates with us in hard conditions besides good days," Yekeh Zarehsaid.

He further added Iran aims cooperation with other corporations to boost production and get access to know-how not just assemble car parts. "Our glance to foreign corporations has not changed and what has happened is that we are thinking other partners, because the partners are not only Peugeot and Renault."

He further added only 30 percent of problems in Iranian car industry are due to international sanctions.

While international automakers have expressed readiness to join Iranian auto industry projects, Peugeot and Renault had announced that they are thinking the issue cautiously.
