
"The Iranians didn't come to the table out of the goodness of their heart," the New York Democrat saidon NBC's "Meet the Press."
Schumer said he's supporting sanctions that would kick in after six months, if the Iranians don't give up their nuclear technology by then. The president would be able to extend the delay another six months.
"The bottom line is very simple; its pretty logical that its sanctions, tough sanctions, that brought them to the table," Schumer said. "We have to be tough."
"I think that will make them negotiate and give up more," he said.
