5th Iran Web Festival to be held in February

5th Iran Web Festival to be held in February
The fifth round of Irans Web Festival, one of the most credited festivals in the Information Technology field in Iran and one of the members of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), will be held in February.

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web. W3C tries to enforce compatibility and agreement among industry members in the adoption of new standards defined by the W3C. Incompatible versions of HTML are offered by different vendors, causing inconsistency in how Web pages are displayed. The consortium tries to get all those vendors to implement a set of core principles and components which are chosen by the consortium.

The first festival was held in 2008 by the Iranian Website News Agency (WEBNA) in order to promote production of content and services based on Iranian culture in the cyberspace. The festival also provides an opportunity for Iranian websites to introduce themselves and compete with one another, and provides grounds for the realization of software movements in web-based media. The winners of the contest will be chosen by a body of jurors at the end of the festival.

More than 2000 Iranian websites participated in the fourth Iranian Web Festival in 2011. The festival covers fields such as education, electronic business, information and news, economy, computer and technology and tourism.

The festival offers other programs such Irans Web Conference, Web Exhibition and Web Book which includes content related to the festival such as articles, information about chosen websites and reports about conferences and workshops.
