TEHRAN (FNA)- Majed Al-Majed is one of Al-Qaeda commanders who worked in Iraq and prepared suicide bombers before sending them to several countries, including Iraq, a well informed source told An-Nahar newspaper.
"Al-Majed was acquainted with all the Lebanese areas as he was with Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Syria and Afghanistan," the source said, Al-Manar reported.
According to the source, Al-Majed led Azzam Brigades after Al-Qaeda commander Saudi Saleh Qaraawi.
In 2008, al-Majed entered Ain el-Helweh Palestinian camp and dwelled there with extremist militants as he met a number of Islamic leaders.
After Abra battle, Al-Majed got introduced to Ahmad al-Assir before he left the Palestinian camp in 2009.
Al-Majed headed to the Syrian Qalamoun where he met a militant commander, Abu Mohammad al-Joulani, yet disputes between them pushed al-Majed to keep moving between Qalamoun, Arsal, Zabadani and Tripoli.
According to the source, the acts that al-Majed organized included launching rockets from Lebanon onto the Palestinian occupied territories, attacking the UN troops and recently, assaulting the Iranian embassy in Beirut via a twin suicide bombings.
The source expected appointing a new commander for Azzam Brigades in the few coming days, anticipating that he may be Palestinian.
