Iran slams Israel over AMIA-linked assassinations

Iran has condemned Israel over claims that Tel Aviv has assassinated those involved in the 1994 bombing of the AMIA Jewish community center in Argentina.
The statements are a clear confession to committing state terrorism by the Zionist regime [of Israel], Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said late on Wednesday.
Afkham called on the international community to condemn Tel Aviv for carrying out the assassinations, which have been acknowledged by Israels former ambassador, Itzhak Aviran.

Aviran's comments prove that Israel was well aware of the identity of the perpetrators from the beginning, and eliminated them in an attempt to conceal the identity of the perpetrators and the facts surrounding this crime, she stated.

The Iranian official also censured Tel Aviv for hiding the truth over the past two decades and, instead, framing Iran for the bombing.

Under intense political pressure imposed by the US and Israel, Argentina had formally accused Iran of having carried out the bomb attack.

Tehran has denied any involvement in the attacks and denounced accusations against Iranian citizens in connection with the blast as a false flag to screen the real perpetrators behind the bombing.

Tehran and Buenos Aires signed a memorandum of understanding in January 2013 to establish a truth commission to investigate the AMIA bombing, which killed 85 people and wounded 300 others.
