Sarmadi: Parliamentary cooperation opens new chapter in Iran-Mexico relations

Tehran, Jan 20, IRNA Visiting Chairwoman of Mexican Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Gabriela Cuevas Barrn, conferred on Monday with the Deputy Foreign Minister Morteza Sarmadi on ways to expand of relations and cooperation between the two countries.

In the meeting, Sarmadi highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two countries and said Iran attaches importance to the expansion of relations with Mexico.


Foreign governments are not allowed to interfere in the domestic affairs of Iran and Mexico, he said.

There is no doubt that the two countries officials call for expansion of economic, cultural, scientific and tourism cooperation.

Sarmadi said that Iran and Mexico also can play significant role in regional developments.

The Mexican Senator, Gabriela Cuevas Barrn, for her part, said that she was pleased with the visit to Iran and sees it as an opportunity to become more acquainted with Iranian people and their rich culture.

Exchange of visits would serve to upgrade parliamentary relations and economic cooperation in other sectors, she said.

?We are witnessing that the new Iranian government spare no efforts to meet the country?s national interests,? she said.

She expressed regret over the terrorist attack in Yemen claimed life of Iranian diplomat and strongly condemned any type of violence and terrorism.
