TEHRAN, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- French consultants, designers and investors will travel to Tabriz, capital of Iran's northwestern East Azerbaijan province, in the form of holding firms to implement urban projects, Iran Daily reported on Tuesday.
Tabriz Mayor Sadeq Najafi said that a visiting French group of consultants and designers have expressed their readiness to collaborate on Tabriz Municipality projects.

"The group has implemented large-scale projects in several cities of the world like Mecca, Moscow and Tehran," he said.

"Establishment of a tourism zone, recreational winter complex and Baghlarbaghi Park plan are among the projects discussed with the French officials."

Najafi said, expressing optimism to finalize the agreement with the French group to accelerate the city's devel ns.

Last month, Italian investors also expressed interest in making investments in construction and urban development projects of Tabriz as well as in the city's commercial, industrial and economic sectors.

An Italian delegation, comprising investors, industrial and banking managers as well as representatives of trade companies, met with Najafi in December and announced their readiness to invest in several Tabriz projects.

Najafi said the city's location on the Silk Road, strong economic infrastructure, historical Bazaar and access to international railroad have made Tabriz an important and appealing city for businessmen, tourists and investors.

The mayor of Tabriz said the city's officials are ready to support private sector investments in construction and service sectors. "Guaranteed profit of investments and facilities to investors are some of the advantages of making investments in Tabriz and East Azerbaijan province," he was quoted as saying.
