Deputy foreign minister says Iranian diplomat in Yemen is alive

Tehran, Jan 25, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-Africa Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Saturday announced that the kidnapped Iranian diplomat in Yemen is alive rejecting an earlier report about his assassination.

Speaking to IRNA, he said the Yemeni security officials have denied the earlier report.


The latest information obtained from Yemen indicated that the Iranian diplomat Nour-Ahmad Nikbakht is in good health and Yemeni political and security officials denied the speculation.

Iran has urged the Yemeni officials to pursue the case precisely, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran expects the Yemeni government to help Iranian diplomats come back home at the earliest, he said.

The Iranian diplomat was kidnapped in front of his house in San?a on July 21, 2013 by a group of unknown armed people.
