TEHRAN (FNA)- Former UN Chief Kofi Annan and his accompanying delegation paid tribute to the Founder of the Islamic Republic, the late Imam Khomeini, on Sunday.
During his visit, Annan expressed certainty that with his presence at the mausoleum of Imam Khomeini, his mission in Iran would yield good results.
Annan arrived in Tehran early on Sunday for a three-day visit to hold various meetings with senior Iranian officials on the latest developments in the region and the world.
Annan at the head of a group of ex-global leaders known as "the Elders" said also that the Elders seek stability, tranquility and peace around the world.
The delegation consists of former Finish President and Nobel Prize winner Martti Oiva Kalevi Ahtisaari, Nobel Prize winner, peace activist and one of the anti-apartheid leaders in South Africa Desmond Tutu, and former Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo.
Annan and his accompanying delegation are slated to have various meetings with senior Iranian officials on the latest developments in the region and on the international scene.
