Salehi: IAEA experts due in Tehran on Saturday

Tehran, Feb 7, IRNA Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi said on Friday that the International Atomic Energy Agency experts are due in Tehran Saturday, February 8 to continue with their talks with their Iranian counterparts.

Talking to IRNA on Friday, he said that based to previous agreements the IAEA experts are to visit Tehran on the fixed date to continue their talks with the experts from Iran nuclear organization and also the Foreign Ministry.

Asked to comment on refueling process of Bushehr nuclear power plant and name the date for the plant to resume electricity generation, Salehi said it will need about 45 days to rejoin the national grid though the time-span is not normally a fixed one.

According to an AEOI announcement, after generating nearly 7 billion kilowatt hours (kWh) of electricity, Bushehr nuclear power plant was cut off the national grid on February 1 to undergo a temporary refueling outage.

Salehi also went on to comment on Iran?s 196-kilogram stockpile of 20 percent enriched uranium. Tehran has agreed to oxide half of the amount and dilute another half under the Joint Plan of Action worked out by Iran and the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany, known as P5+1.

He said that the process has already started and will be completed in a six-month period agreed upon in the nuclear deal.
