Iran, Russia reject any foreign intervention in Syria

Moscow, Feb 7, IRNA Iranian Ambassador to Russia Mahdi Sanaei and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhael Bogdanov in a meeting on Friday criticized foreign intervention in Syria.

The two officials underlined that Syrian crisis has to be resolved by only Syrian people themselves.


The Iranian ambassador said Iran wanted an immediate end to violence in Syria and continuation of attempts to fight terrorism in the country.

He voiced Iran?s readiness to help secure a political solution to the Syrian crisis with participation of Syrian government and influential countries in the region, including Syria?s neighboring countries.

He underlined that Iran?s positive and constructive role in the region cannot be denied, stressing that any process without participation of Iran will go nowhere.

Bogdanov stressed the importance of sustaining negotiations between Syrian government and opposition groups, urging all influential players in the region and the whole world to play their part in this regard.
