Iranian woman filmmaker Narges Abyars latest creation The Groove 143 has been invited to the 2014 Los Angeles International Film Festival.
The movie premiered at the 32nd Fajr International film festival yesterday on February 7 and garnered rave reviews by critics and audience.
The Groove 143 is a screen adaptation of Abyars novel titled The Third Eye that narrates a story of a woman during Irans sacred defense.
Abyars previous drama Objects in a Mirror Are Closer than They Appear was also selected to contend for awards at the Middle East Now International Film Festival in Italy in April, 2014.
The film is to represent Iran at the Competition section of the festival that will be held in Italian city of Florence.
Abyars film was also screened at several international festivals such as the 16th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) in China.
Her 2008 production One Day After the Tenth Day is also slated to be screened at the Rome Independent Film Festival (RIFF) in Italy in March 2014.
Born in Tehran, Nargess Abyar studied in Persian Literature and received her B.A. in this field.
She has penned some 30 story and fiction books for children, young adults and adults. She has also made several short and feature-length documentaries and one fiction.
