Ardebil, Feb 10, IRNA A 5.8-Richter quake shook northwestern province of Ardebil at 15:36 (12:06 GMT) local time on Monday, causing panic among the people.
The Geophysics Institute of Tehran Universitys Geophysics pegged the epicenter of the quake at 40.40 degrees in northern latitude and 48.83 degrees eastern longitude in Marzeh region in Azerbaijan Repbulic.
No report is yet available on likely damage and casualties caused by the quake, which was also felt in Moghan region north of Ardebil and Astara west of the province.
In the meantime, another quake messuring three on the open-ended richter scale, shook Hir city, 24 kms south of Ardebil at 22:45 (19:15 GMT) hours local time on Sunday.
