Iran delegation due in Pakistan over abductions

Iran will dispatch a delegation to Pakistan to pursue the case of five Iranian border guards abducted and transferred to the country's eastern neighbor.
The Iranian team will depart for Pakistan next week, Iran's Deputy Interior Minister for Security Affairs Ali Abdollahisaid on Wednesday.

Five Iranian border guards were abducted in Jakigour region in Sistan and Baluchestan Province on February 6 and transferred to the Pakistani territory.

The Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group has claimed responsibility for the kidnapping of the Iranian border guards.

Abdollahi said Iranian border guards have already met with their Pakistani counterparts to investigate the issue.

Pakistani officials shoulder a responsibility in this regard which they should honor, the Iranian official stated.

Following the kidnapping of the Iranian border guards, Irans Foreign Ministry on Sunday invited Pakistani Ambassador to Tehran Noor Mohammad Jadmani to protest the transferring of the abductees.

On October 25, 2013, the Jaish-ul-Adl group killed 14 Iranian border guards and wounded six others in the border region near the city of Saravan in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
In a letter to the president of the UN Security Council on October 28, 2013, Iranian Ambassador to the UN Mohammad Khazaei said evidence indicates that the Jaish-ul-Adl terrorist group had carried out the terrorist attack by infiltrating Irans eastern borders from Pakistan.
In February, 2013, Iran and Pakistan signed a security agreement, under which both countries are required to cooperate in preventing and combating organized crime, fighting terrorism and countering activities that pose a threat to the national security of either country.

Iran has repeatedly called on its neighbor to commit to the terms of the agreement.
