TEHRAN (FNA)- Japanese Ambassador to Tehran Koji Hanedaunderlined that his country attaches much importance to the improvement of economic relations with Iran.
Tokyo sees special importance in the expansion and improvement of economic ties with Iran, the Japanese ambassador said during his one-day visit to the Southern Iranian Island of Kharg.
The Japanese ambassador stressed that the oil industry has played an important role in the deepening of Tehran-Tokyo ties, and said, Since 1953 when the Nisshin Maru oil tanker was loaded with Irans crude oil for a destination of Japan, we have been witnessing the continued presence of Japanese oil companies and tankers in Irans oil industry and we hope that in the future we will observe further improvement in Iran-Japan oil ties.
Haneda also underlined his countrys enthusiasm for the further expansion of cooperation with Iran, and said, Japan attaches much importance to its economic relations with Iran and we try to continue these ties.
Diplomatic relations between Iran and Japan were formally established in 1926 and throughout history, the two countries have maintained a friendly and strongly cooperation in various arenas.
The two countries' officials have held talks in different economic, trade, political and cultural fields in recent years to explore new ways of expanding bilateral ties.
