Irans health budget faces deficit at year end

The Iranian Minister of Health announced that the national health budget has a shortfall of 60 billion rials this year, emphasizing that the situation was inherited from the former administration.
Hassan Qazizadeh told the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday February 25 that the government has made many efforts to address the shortfall in the health sector, but in some cases it has not been possible to complete the needs of the ministry in terms of managers, missions and capacity.

He said that with the inflation rate expected to fall to 25 percent, some of the problems will be resolved.

International sanctions and a declining economy have inflicted budget shortfalls on many Iranian ministries in recent years.

The Rohani administration has also accused the previous government of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad of having mismanaged the executive branch and exacerbating Irans economic woes.
