TEHRAN Mar 05 (Shana): An adviser to the Department of the Environment denied the U.S officials remarks that sanctions had orchestrated in a way that not to harm Iranian peoples.Esmail Kahramsaid once sanctions came into force the country has no choice but to use a kind of gasoline containing 50 percent benzene which in turn raised fuel consumption in vehicles, air pollution, spread of various diseases including cancer and even took life of some patients.
While in European countries benzene makes up just 5 percent of the gasoline, it is clear that imposing sanctions including on gasoline imports have been harmful and have negatively affected the life of ordinary peoples, Kahram said.
According to official the U.N Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in his report to General Assembly and U.N Human Rights Council has underlined the negative impacts of sanctions including skyrocketing inflation, rising energy and commodity prices, intensifying unemployment and lack of access to essential goods.
