Tehran for improving ties with Saudi, UAE, says Iranian Foreign Minister Zarif
Muscat:Iran is interested in enhancing cooperation with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, because it attaches great importance to the region's security, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told Times of Oman, in an exclusive interview.
Good neighbourliness
On Iran's relations with Saudi Arabia, Zarif said, "We believe that Iran and Saudi Arabia are two very important and influential countries in the region and the Islamic world, and their relations should be based upon good neighbourliness and they should cooperate with each other."

"We have common interests and face common dangers," he said, adding that the security of Saudi Arabia and the region is very important to Iran and "we have always been ready to cooperate and consult with the Saudi government."

Island dispute
Commenting on He said that Iran is interested in having "normal, healthy and constructive" ties with the UAE. the issue of the three islands of Abu Musa and the Greater and Lesser Tunbs, Zarif said, "Neither Iran nor any country has made a compromise over its land. But we are interested in having normal, healthy, and constructive relations with the UAE government. We have always been ready for negotiations with the UAE government, but negotiations do not include a compromise on our land."
