Belarus FM calls for expansion of trade ties with Iran
TEHRAN (FNA)- Belarus Foreign Minister Vladimir Makey called for the expansion of Tehran-Minsk mutual cooperation, specially in trade and economic fields.
This visit provided us with the opportunity to continue our consultations that started in New York in last September and we managed to discuss the current issues and prospects of future relations, Makey said in a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on Sunday.

Makey noted that the current level of trade balance between Iran and Belarus stands at $60 million, and said, In the joint economic commission, we will discuss these issues and I will meet Irans trade and industry minister tomorrow.

He pointed to the removal of the visa regime between Iran and Belarus, and said, Lifting visa requirements is on the agenda and we should continue the path for finalizing it.

Tehran and Minsk have in recent months increased efforts to start a jump in mutual cooperation.

Iran and Belarus have recently widened their areas of economic cooperation. The two countries signed a Memorandum of Understanding on road transportation cooperation in March 2012.

The two countries also announced in March that they plan to establish a join trading company to help expand their bilateral ties and exchanges.
