Iran to build petchem zone in Iranshahr

Tehran, April 16, IRNA - President Hassan Rouhani said that his administration plans to construct a special petrochemical zone in the southeastern Iranian city of Iranshahr in Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
Addressing the people of Zahedan in his third provincial tour, the president said the government is deeply concerned with supplying natural gas to the cities of Zahedan and Khash. President Rouhani added that gas will be supplied to the regions by the next Iranian year to March 2015, the Petroenergy news network SHANA reported on Wednesday.
The president also noted the start of feasibility studies for construction of a petrochemical zone in Iranshahr with reliance on private investments and government support.

He noted the vast potentials of the province goods transit to various parts of the world, stating the province should become the conduit for the transfer of cargos to the northern parts of the country from the sea of Oman and the Indian Ocean.
