Iran, Azerbaijan discuss prisoner exchange deal
Iran and Azerbaijan have discussed ways of implementing a mutual agreement on the extradition of prisoners.
The issue was discussed at a meeting between Irans Ambassador to Baku Mohsen Pakayin and Azerbaijans Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov.

Pakayin expressed gratitude for Azerbaijans positive view about the immediate extradition of prisoners that led to transfer of a number of Iranian inmates to their country in mid-March.

He also expressed Tehrans readiness to plan for continuing the process.

The Iranian diplomat pointed to the visit by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Iran on April 9 and said that the visit heralded the outset of an all-out transformation in the two nations relations.

Mammadov, for his part, hailed Aliyevs visit to Iran as fruitful and expressed optimism that legal and judicial cooperation between the two countries will create a backbone for mutual ties.

He described the prisoner extradition program as a humanitarian measure and expressed hope for the expedition of the relevant legal procedures.
