TEHRAN (FNA)- More than 200 lawmakers in a statement on Sunday deplored the UK's renewed sanctions against a number of Iranian officials as a move in contradiction to the recent interim agreement signed between Iran and the six world powers in Geneva on November 24.
The MP's statement came after the UK Treasury in an anti-Iran move renewed sanctions against 15 current and former Iranian officials under the pretext of violating human rights.
"The sanctions against the Iranian officials by the British government indicate the lack of commitment by the Group 5+1 (the five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) members to the allegations they had made in Geneva and show that they will never quit their animosity towards Iran," the statement signed by 200 Iranian parliamentarians said.
The Iranian lawmakers expressed the hope that such western attitudes, specially from the side of the US and the UK, would increase the sensitivity of the Iranian team of negotiators and also result in more actions to confront such meddling.
The British Treasury has demanded blocking of the financial assets of the 15 individuals in the UK, prohibiting the British financial institutes from all types of transactions with them.
On Tuesday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for European and American Affairs Majid Takht Ravanchi lashed out at Britain for imposing fresh sanctions against Iranian individuals.
"The sanctions are unilateral, biased, politically-motivated and totally unacceptable," the Iranian deputy foreign minister said.
