Malaysian Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Seri Anifah Aman is set to pay an official visit to Tehran to discuss political, regional and international issues with senior Iranian officials.
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Asia and Pacific Affairs Ebrahim Rahimpour said on Wednesday that Anifah Aman is likely to arrive in Tehran on Friday night.
The Malaysian foreign minister is expected to meet his counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Saturday and attend a joint press conference afterward.
Rahimpour said Anifah Aman has also asked for a meeting with President Hassan Rouhani.
Describing Amans trip as important, the Iranian official said the visit can pave the way for the further enhancement of bilateral ties between Tehran and Kuala Lumpur.
Earlier in February, Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, the lower house of the Malaysian parliament, Pandikar Amin Mulia visited Tehran to attend a meeting of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of the Islamic Member States (PUOICM).
