Madrid, May 8, IRNA Iranian Ambassador to Madrid Mohammad Hassan Fadayeefard underlined the role of Spain in Iran?s talks with world powers.
?Although Spain is not a member of the Group 5+1 (five permanent UN Security Council members plus Germany) it has played a positive role in nuclear talks as an important and influential European country,? Fadayeefard said.
He noted that the numerous statements by the Spanish foreign ministry in support and implementation of Iran?s nuclear deal with the G5+1 indicates Madrid?s clear stance in this field.
The Iranian ambassador pointed to 600-year diplomatic relations between Iran and Spain, and said, unfortunately some recent pressures by third countries imposed against Tehran-Madrid relations within the framework of the European Union?s sanctions has negatively affected economic and trade relations of the two countries so that some Spanish companies have sustained heavy damages.
However, he noted that the recent developments in Iran, specially the political epic of people?s presence in presidential elections as well as the policies of President Rouhani?s government has resulted in many developments in Iran?s relations with the outside world, including Spain.
