Iran, Georgia to increase transport cooperation
Tehran, May 18, IRNA - Head of Irans Road Maintenance and Road Transportation Organization Davoud Keshavarzian and Georgia?s Ambassador to Iran Iosif Chakashvili explored ways for developing and facilitating road transit cooperation between the two countries.
In a meeting here on Saturday, the two officials discussed enhancing cooperation and taking more steps to facilitate the traffic of Iranian and Georgian transportation fleet.
During the meeting, Keshavarzian called on Georgia to facilitate entrance of Iranian transit trucks to Georgia.

The Georgian envoy, for his part, called for enhancement of bilateral trade, adding that his country is willing to offer the facilities of Poti and Batumi ports to Iranian traders.

Iran and Georgia agreed to increase transportation cooperation during the meeting of the two countries joint road transportation commission in February.

Some 10,000 trucks transfer goods between Iran and Georgia annually.
