Iran to make car parts locally

TEHRAN (ISNA)- A member of Board of Directors of Iranian Automotive Parts Manufacturers Association Mohammad Reza Najafi-Manesh said car parts of new automobiles are being manufactured locally in Iran.
"Iranian car-makers plan to produce several new home-made cars," he said, the producers face no problem in terms of technology or engineering to indigenize the car parts.

Najafi-Manesh further noted that the process lessens car price and boosts outputs.

Iran held the first international conference on the Auto industry, gathering local and international automotive manufactures in November.

The conference witnessed a change of mood following talks last week in Geneva on easing sanctions on Iran's Auto industry and this led to many closed-door meetings at the venue of the conference.

Iran's auto industry reached its peak production of 1.7 million vehicles two years ago.
