All papers today covered a meeting between the Leader of Irans Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and members of the Iranian Parliament. The Leaders call on the Parliament to pass domestic laws against money laundering and terrorism, instead of approving the countrys accession to FATF or CFT, made the headlines today.
The top story, however, was the brilliant performance of the Iranian national football team, which lost its second FIFA World Cup match against Spain 1-0. Several papers also highlighted the historic presence of women at Tehrans Azadi Stadium who watched Iran-Spain match along with fellow male fans.
The US withdrawal from the UN Human Rights Council in support of the Israeli regime also received great coverage today.
