TEHRAN, Jan. 24 (MNA) Iran Photo Agency (IPA) is arranging a photo exhibition on Irans wind-catchers in Kuwait.
In cooperation with the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Iran Photo Agency (APA), affiliated with the IYCS will hold an exhibition featuring photo of Irans wind-catchers in Kuwait.
Thirty photographs taken by Iranian photographer Afshin Bakhtiar of wind-catchers across Iranian cities, will be exhibited from Monday February 16-21 in Kuwait.
Iranian wind-catcher is a traditional Persian architectural element used for many centuries to create natural ventilation in buildings. The function of this tower is to catch cooler breeze that prevail at a higher level above the ground and to direct it into the interior of the buildings.
Using wind-catchers has been common since several thousand years ago in Iranian architecture so that the city of Yazd in Iran is still known as the 'city of wind-catchers.'
