Iran not influenced by provocations, says presidential aide

IRNA Iran follows a strategy of engagement based on peace and away from being easily influenced by provocations, says Political Deputy of Iran's Presidential Office Hamid Aboutalebi.

Aboutalebi on Friday lashed out at US President Donald Trump and his tide of provocative Tweets aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran, saying Washington cannot put Iran again top on the list of global threats.

The United States and all the countries which are in isolation and weak position, are trying by posting Tweets, taking part in interviews, letting out cries to adopt a new strategy and put Iran again top on the list of global threats, he said in his Tweet.

(Former US president) Barack Obama, during his first term in office, adopted a similar approach of confrontations and imposing sanctions and by arranging rhetoric and exercising provocations started portraying Iran as the first global threat, he said.

But then, he made a telephone call and went along the path of engagement and trying to address the issue, he added.

The strategy followed by Iran as a country, now on the peak of its power, tends to be based on peace and not being influenced by provocations.

The Islamic republic is playing skillfully and powerfully on its own and not on others pitch.

Since taking office on January 20, US President Donald Trump has sent an array of aggressive and provocative messages against Iran.

After a recent missile testfire by Iran, which Tehran regards not to be against commitments it has according to the nuclear deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, Washington has reacted to put in place new sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

While Iran maintains that its missile program has a defensive nature, the new US administration is trying to portray Irans missile posture as a global threat, vowing to confront it.

The White House has claimed that all the options, even the military one, are available against Iran.

Iran, unlike the US and Israel, has not started a war during the past 250 years.
