WASHINGTON (Sputnik) The Trump administration is conducting a comprehensive Iran policy review inorder toaddress the country's compliance withits obligations underthe 2015 nuclear agreement, also known asthe Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction (JCPOA), US Department ofState spokesperson Heather Nauert said ina press briefing onTuesday.
"There is a full Iran review policy that is still underway. I don't want toget ahead ofwhat this review policy is going tobe," Nauert stated. "We still believe what Iran is doing is destabilizing and that the JCPOA does not fully recognize and comprehend and encompass all these destabilizing activities that Iran is engaged in."
Earlier onTuesday, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani told lawmakers that Tehran could withdraw fromthe JCPOA withinhours if the United States continued toescalate rhetoric aboutadding new sanctions.
Nauert said the Trump administration remains committed tocountering full range ofIran's illicit activities againstcountries acrossthe world.
Moreover, Nauert said she did not have any intelligence onIran's intention toboost funding forits ballistic missile program, butit would certainly be a concern forthe United States.
On Sunday, the Iranian parliament passed a legislation toincrease spending onits missile program inresponse tothe sanctions.
